After the safety lessons I teach the students how to read a ruler. I have them do several of the following problems. This teaches them how to follow directions and read a ruler otherwise the picture will not come out correctly. I have the answers but its more fun to do them yourself. If you want the answers e-mail me.

The Students then proceed in the Research And Design. There they learn Limits and Tolerance and how it affects the interchangeability of parts. Student must make five different thumbnail sketches and after approval select two. These two are sketched in a larger detail and discussed with me and after approval they proceed to the Final drawing. From this they will transfer (carbon paper) it to a piece of wood to be cut out.
